Stevington Parish Council would like to advise residents that temporary road closures will be in place from Monday 13th April to Saturday 30th April 2026.
These closures are necessary to enable essential repair works to The Cross historic monument, ensuring that the works can be carried out safely and to a high standard. The project forms part of the Parish Council’s ongoing commitment to preserving the village’s historic assets.
Traffic Management Arrangements
Road closures will be in operation 24 hours a day throughout the duration of the works.
A signed diversion route will be in place, and residents are encouraged to follow all on-site signage. A QR code is available on public notices around the village, allowing residents to view the diversion route in advance.
Additional Traffic Measures
To facilitate the contractor’s working compound adjacent to the monument:
- 3-way traffic signals will be installed on Park Road, Stevington, in conjunction with Silver Street
- Silver Street will be closed to through traffic, with access maintained for residents only
- The affected section of road will be restricted for large vehicles, including buses
Public Transport
Due to vehicle size restrictions, smaller buses have been requested to operate along the affected route during the works period. Residents are advised to check with local bus service providers for any temporary changes to services.
Further Information
The Parish Council appreciates that these works may cause some inconvenience and would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding while this important preservation project is carried out.
