Notice of Uncontested Election

Bedford Borough Council has issued a Declaration of Uncontested Election for Stevington Parish Council. This means the four candidates named on the declaration below are elected without contest.

There are seven seats for Stevington Parish which means 3 seats are available to prospective suitable persons who may be co-opted to the Parish Council in due course.

A full complement of Parish Councillors is fundamental in optimising the duties and activities expected of it. Stevington Parish Council meets once every two months, in the evening, for approx. 2 hours and prospective candidates must be able to make this time commitment. Any local resident wishing to be considered for co-option should contact either the Parish Clerk (clerk@stevington-pc.gov.uk) or speak to one of the current Councillors for an honest conversation about the time and effort required in representing the views and interests of the village.

If the Parish Council is unable to maintain a minimum of three Councillors for the next four years, management, decision making and governance for Stevington will defer to Bedford Borough Council. Currently, Stevington is only 1 resignation away from the Borough taking over.
